Getting started — signing in and your first day
What this screen is for. Signing in to your business dashboard — and everything that happens on your first day: your first sign-in, the quick tour, the "Get set up" checklist, and how the free trial works. How to get there. Open your dashboard address in any browser. If you're not signed in, you land on the Sign in page. Type your email and password and tap Sign in. What every button does On the Sign in page: Email and Password. Type them and tap the green Sign in button. The eye icon in the Password box shows or hides what you typed. Nothing is ever prefilled for you except your email when you arrive from a sign-up or invitation link. Forgot password? Sits just above the Password box. Tap it and we email a reset link to whatever address is in the Email box. You'll see "Check your email for a reset link." The link opens Set a new password — type your new password twice and tap Update password, then Continue to dashboard. Resend email. If you signed up but never clicked your confirmation email, the page says "Confirm your email first" instead of signing you in. The link in that email confirms your account and signs you in — no password needed. Tap Resend email if you can't find it. New to HomeRecon.AI? Sign up takes you to the signup page on homerecon.ai. Or continue with — Google and Apple work today (X and Meta are on their way). One tap and you're in. First time with Apple? Choose "Share My Email" so it connects to any account you already have — Apple's "Hide My Email" gives us a private relay address that can't match anything. The same tip is printed right under the buttons. First-ever Google or Apple sign-in? You'll be asked one question first: "Is this a new account?" — Create my new account starts your firm; I already have an account signs you back out with instructions to sign in your usual way and connect Google/Apple from Settings → Ways you sign in. That one question is what keeps a stray Apple tap from accidentally creating a second, empty business. If you're a home buyer or an agent: this door is for inspectors. Signing in here shows "Your reports are somewhere else" — tap Go to my reports to reach your report portal, or Sign in with a different account. Your first sign-in Your firm is created the moment you first sign in after confirming your email. You land on the Overview page with everything ready: your business name in the sidebar, starter templates, a stocked comment library, default working hours, and a website waiting for your branding. Three things greet you: The App Guide tour. A welcome window asks "Would you like a quick tour of the platform before you get started?" — about 60 seconds, 8 stops, each one walking you to a page and pointing at it. Start tour begins; Not now skips it and it won't ask again on this device. Replay it any time from the App Guide sparkle at the top-right of every page. The "Get set up" card on your Overview (only the owner sees it) — seven steps that tick themselves off as you finish them: The card disappears on its own once all seven are done. Tell us about your business — your name, phone, and license flow onto every report you send. Add your business address — drive times and your mileage log start from your office. Set up payments — connect your bank so clients can pay you by card. HomeRecon takes $0. Brand your website — add your colors and logo, then publish it. Set your availability & service area — when you work and where you travel. Add your clients & agents — bring them over from HomeGauge, Spectora, or ISN, or add them fresh. Run your first AI inspection & deliver the report. The trial banner — "0 of 2 free inspections used." The free trial and subscribing Your first 2 inspections are free. No card, no time limit. The only thing subscribing changes is the cap — everything else is already yours during the trial, including your website and card payments. The Overview banner counts along: "1 of 2 free inspections used," then "You've reached your trial limit — subscribe to keep going." Subscribe (on the banner, or Subscribe now in the header) opens the subscribe window: one plan, HomeRecon — $299/month, everything included. Your only choice is how you pay: Pay monthly ($299/mo) or Save 20% — pay annually ($2,870/yr). The window spells out exactly what you'll be charged and when, you pay by card on the next screen, and nothing is charged before you confirm. The guarantee: "Not for you? Full refund in your first 30 days. No questions asked." One guarantee claim per person, ever. Starting a third inspection while on the trial opens this same subscribe window — your first two reports are saved and stay yours either way. Common questions "How do I sign in?" Open your dashboard address, type your email and password, tap Sign in. That's the only door — there are no shortcut buttons. "I forgot my password." On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password? — the email link opens Set a new password. "It says 'Confirm your email first.'" Click the link in the email we sent when you signed up — it confirms you and signs you in. Resend email sends a fresh one. "I'm a home buyer and it says my reports are somewhere else." You've reached the inspector door by mistake — tap Go to my reports and you'll land in your own report portal. "Do I need a credit card to try it?" No. Start free — no credit card. You add a card only when you subscribe, after your 2 free inspections. "A tour keeps offering itself / how do I see the tour again?" It offers itself once per device; Not now retires it. Replay from the App Guide sparkle, top-right. "I got signed out on another device — was I hacked?" No. Your login stays signed in on two devices at once; signing in on a third signs out the oldest one, and that device sees a one-line note about it next time. "What's the checklist card on my home page?" The owner-only "Get set up" card — seven steps that tick themselves. It goes away when you've done them all. Good to know There is no demo or one-tap sign-in anywhere. Everyone types their credentials — that's deliberate. Google and Apple sign-in are live; X and Meta are on their way. If you use both an email password and a social sign-in, connect them under Settings → Ways you sign in so every door leads to the same account. Two devices per login. Phone plus laptop is the normal setup. If your firm needs another inspector working at the same time, that's an inspector seat ($99/month from Business → Team) — sharing one login to avoid a seat is against the Terms. Once in a while, the owner is asked to re-accept updated Terms. A full-screen notice appears with a short list of what changed; tick the box and tap Agree and continue. Inspectors and office staff just see a one-line heads-up — only the owner is asked to agree. New inspections stay locked until your email is confirmed. The banner at the top says so and offers Resend email; once you've clicked the link, refresh the page.
