Limitations and the Glossary — scope and definitions

What this screen is for. Two pinned panes at the bottom of the section rail. Limitations is what every report says about scope — plus anything that limited this inspection. Glossary / Terms is what each rating means and the plain-English definitions the report's glossary prints — the same words a client reads, ready to show them mid-walk. How to get there. On the capture screen, scroll the section rail past your last section: Limitations, then Glossary / Terms. What every button does Limitations — Scope & disclaimers: The clause list — your standard scope wording, each clause with an Include checkbox: untick it and it's left out of this report only (the row dims and reads "Not in this report"). Your firm's standard set is never touched by a tick. Edit (the pencil) — rewrite a clause. Two plain buttons decide where the words go: Save for every report (your firm's standard wording from now on) or Just this inspection (this house only — the row then wears a "Changed here" badge, with a one-tap Restore back to your standard wording). Add a limitation — a new clause: a name only you see, the text the client reads, and the same two buttons — Add to every report or Add to this inspection. Restore standard wording — appears once your firm set is customized; tap twice ("Tap again — this undoes your edits") and every firm edit is undone. The standards warning — if your wording stops mentioning something most Standards of Practice expect, an amber note names exactly what's missing. It warns; it never blocks your save. Limitations noted on findings — the read-only list of every finding you flagged "couldn't fully inspect" from its own card, with the reasons. It fills itself; the tick lives on the finding. Additional limitations for this inspection — a free box for anything that limited this visit ("no attic access, snow on the roof, utilities off…"). It saves as you go. Glossary / Terms: What each rating means — the full rating editor, right here mid-walk: rename a rating, rewrite its meaning, recolor it, reorder, add your own. It's the same editor as Inspections → Glossary, and a change saves for the whole firm — every chip on this screen speaks the new word immediately. The four locked ratings (Repair / Replace, Safety Hazard, Needs a Specialist, Satisfactory) can be renamed but never hidden — the lock icon says why. Report terms — the definitions this report's glossary prints. Remove any you don't want for this house, or Add term ("Efflorescence" + a plain-English meaning a homeowner will understand). These are per-inspection. Common questions "I can't get on the roof today — where do I say that?" Two places, both easy: flag the roof finding "couldn't fully inspect" from its card (it lists itself here automatically), or type it into Additional limitations for this inspection. "Can I change the boilerplate my reports print?" Yes — edit a clause and Save for every report. For a one-house change, Just this inspection. "A buyer asks what 'Monitor' means — fastest way to show them?" Open Glossary / Terms — the meanings are the exact words their report will use. "I renamed a rating here — does it change everywhere?" Yes — it's your firm's scale, so capture chips, the report, and the PDF all follow, right away. (Delivered reports keep the words they were written with.) "Why can't I hide Safety Hazard?" The AI and the Budget Genie use it — rename it if you like, but it can't leave the picker. "What's the amber standards note?" A safety net: your reworded clause no longer mentions something Standards of Practice expect. Add it back — unless you know you don't need it. Good to know Everything here saves as you go — clause changes save instantly, the additional-limitations box saves shortly after you pause typing (and the moment you leave the box). "Saving…" and a green "Saved" tell you where you stand on the Limitations pane. Unticking a clause is per-report by design — your standard set stays intact for the next job.
