Download data — take your book with you
What this screen is for. Your data is yours. Download any part of your HomeRecon account — or all of it — to keep, back up, or move. Clients, agents, comments, templates and branding come out in the very same shape the Import data tab reads, so anything you download you can bring right back into HomeRecon later. How to get there. Sidebar → Settings → Download data (owner only, beside Import data). What every button does Download everything — the big box at the top. Ticks all seven parts of your account at once; your whole book downloads as a single .zip file. Or pick what you want — seven checkboxes, tick as many as you like: Clients — everyone on your Clients list (names, emails, phones). Referring agents — your agents and their contact details. Comment library — every comment you've written or imported. Inspection templates — your custom templates and their sections. Inspections & reports — every inspection, its report, and its findings, saved as records. Photos & videos — the photos and videos attached to your inspections. Business settings & branding — your business profile, settings, and branding. Download — the green button. When you pick a single list it downloads that one file (for example comments.csv); pick more than one, or add photos, and it packages everything into one .zip. The button tells you which is coming, and shows its progress — "Adding photos 8 of 20…" — as it works. Your backups — a record of every download On the right of the screen is Your backups. Every time you download your data, HomeRecon notes it there, so you always know when you last backed up and how big it was — no guessing, no digging through your Downloads folder. Last backed up sits at the top in plain words — "2 days ago" — with the exact date, what you took (Everything, or the parts you picked), and the file size beside it. Underneath, your earlier downloads are listed newest-first, each with its date and size, so you can see your backup habit at a glance. The record is kept on our side, not just on this device — so it's the same whether you're on your phone or your laptop, and it survives clearing your browser. Haven't downloaded yet? The panel says so, and fills in the moment you take your first backup. Common questions "How do I get a copy of all my clients?" Tick Clients → Download — a clients.csv lands, ready to open in any spreadsheet or import back into HomeRecon. "Can I download my whole account at once?" Yes — tick Download everything and it comes down as one .zip with every part inside, plus a short README that lists what's in it. "Is this really only my data?" Yes — a download only ever contains your own account's records, never anyone else's. "Can I put my data back after I download it?" The people-and-content parts — clients, agents, comments, templates and branding — come out in the exact shape the Import data tab reads, so you can re-import them any time. "Do my delivered reports come out too?" Their records do. A report you've already signed off and delivered stays on file for your records and the law, and your download includes a copy of its records so you always have one. "It said a couple of photos were left out — why?" Now and then a single photo can't be reached. The rest of your download still finishes, and the message tells you exactly how many were left out so nothing is a surprise. "When did I last back up my data?" Look at Your backups on the right — the top line tells you in plain words ("2 days ago"), with the date and file size, and your earlier downloads are listed beneath it. Good to know Big accounts with lots of photos take a little longer to package — keep the tab open while it works. The file is named by the day you took it (homerecon-export-2026-08-20.zip), so keeping regular backups is easy to sort.
